5 kN Split-Drum Grips for Rope

5 kN Split-Drum Grips for Rope

Shimadzu’s 5 kN (1,100 lbf) split-drum grips are ideal for testing the tensile properties of rope and string with a diameter of 3 mm (0.12 in) or less. The diameter of the drum is 50 mm (2.0 in) and a spring mechanism is used to clamp samples into place. These grips come with two grip face choices: integrated parallel-grooved grip faces and embedded file-teeth grip faces.

Operation

Specimens are inserted between the upper split-drum, wrapped around the upper and lower drum, and fixed between the lower split-drum. The drums self-tighten as the specimens are loaded to ensure that the samples remain secured in place. Adjust the tension of the spring mechanism to alter the initial clamping force and protect samples.
