Tensile Fixtures

Wedge, Flat, Capstan, Pin-Type and many more types of grips listed below.

Wedge Grips

Non-shift wedge grips are versatile grips for tensile testing a wide variety of materials including, metals plastics and composites.

The open-front design allows easy insertion of specimens and exchange of grip faces.  The self-tightening wedge action reduces sample slippage during testing. Shimadzu non-shift wedge grips are available with manual, pneumatic or hydraulic mechanisms.

A comprehensive selection of grip faces is available, including designs for rods, wires, high hardness materials and composites.
Please see the links below for additional details regarding individual designs.

Flat Grips

Flat grips are general purpose grips suitable for static tensile testing of many material types including, rubber, plastics, textiles and paper.  Flat grips are suitable for many specimen geometries such as plates, films and wires.  Shimadzu flat grips are available with manual, pneumatic or hydraulic mechanism.

A comprehensive selection of grip faces is available.

Capstan Grips

Shimadzu capstan grips designs are available for static tensile testing of wires, metal cables, rope, yarns and cloth samples.  Manual and pneumatic tightening mechanisms are available.

Please see the links below for details.

Other Grips

Specialized grip designs are available for a wide range of materials, specimen shapes and test force ranges. Examples include:  Clip grips for low forces testing, roller grips for soft materials, and pin grips for hard, flat samples that are difficult to grip.
