Many substances harmful to human health are detected in atmospheric air. Even substances that are not at a concentration level that has a direct effect on human health may cause concerns of carcinogenicity after long-term exposure. This shows an example of the gas chromatograph-mass spectrometer (GC/MS) analysis of volatile organic compounds (VOC) in air, based on the Japanese Air Pollution Control Act that went into effect in 1997.
This instrument is widely used for the qualitative and quantitative analysis of chemical substances. The column and ionization method are selected to suit the analysis target. A continuous atmosphere sampler can be used to obtain highly accurate analysis results.
