CLAM-2040 - Fully Automated Sample Preparation Module for LC-MS/MS
Automation of manual procedures has been proven to increase productivity and savings while freeing time for added value tasks. This economic logic applies to clinical research laboratories who employ highly skilled employees. The Shimadzu Laboratory Automation module for LCMS is designed for laboratories running routine LCMS analyses, reducing repetitive bench work for skilled staff while improving throughput and reproducibility.

| Volume in Preparation Vial | Max 350 μL |
|---|---|
| Preparation Functions | Sample dispensing, reagent dispensing, stirring, suction filtration, and heating * Max. 20 steps can be set in a protocol. |
| Capacity of Samples | Max. 60 samples |
| Capacity of Reagents | Max. 20 bottles |
| Sample Dispensing | Volume range from 10 to 100 μL / 0.5 μL step, Liquid detection and shock detection |
| Reagent Dispensing | Volume range from 10 to 100 μL / 0.5 μL step, Liquid detection and shock detection |
| Throughput | Up to 23 samples per hour * Under specified conditions. |
The Laboratory Automation Module performs complete sample handling, including sample and reagent pipetting, dilution, vortexing, heating, vacuum filtration to remove protein precipitates, and transfer to the autosampler for injection for subsequent LC-MS/MS analysis.

The Laboratory Module intelligent management of samples and priority shifting will prove key in day-to-day operation and meeting changing and challenging deadlines. The CLAM-2040 has been designed to enable seamless reprioritization. The batch automatically resumes once the priority samples are completed.
Shimadzu and Recipe are collaborating to advance the fully automated platform and provide complete analytical kits for research workflows. Recipe Kits offer a comprehensive package including mobile phases, autosampler washes, calibrators, controls, internal standards, and, when needed, columns and filters.
