Professor Saint-Marcoux will introduce supercritical fluid chromatography (SFC) as a fast, efficient, and more sustainable alternative to conventional liquid chromatography for forensic analysis. Attendees will learn the fundamentals of SFC-MS, including essential method development considerations such as column selection, mobile phase modifiers, pressure regulation, optimal ionization conditions, and biological matrix compatibility. The presentation will highlight the advantages of coupling SFC with high-resolution mass spectrometry and demonstrate its application to forensic toxicology. Professor Saint-Marcoux will demonstrate the true potential of this technology by sharing a case study featuring a novel SFC-QTOF workflow that was developed to detect drugs of abuse in oral fluid from authentic drug-impaired driving cases in Europe.
